Lewis Carnival 2009

Today saw the Lewis Carnival procession wind its way through the town. There were five floats, two on large lorry trailers, and three on smaller vehicles. The Lewis Pipe Band did them proud, marching on ahead. Just a few pics to give you a taster of the atmosphere near the Coop roundabout.

  1. Thanks ,Arnish; it looks like great fun;loved the sunday fairies and pamperd pooches--and no sign of rain!

  2. Great photos and video, thanks.

  3. A roundabout, fancy that! We don't have the roundabout on Cumbrae....or Sunday Fairies,

  4. I did not spot this fairy myself, but I was reliably informed that there was a "Broken Down Ferry / Fairy" amongst the fairies :-D

  5. or "broken down angel"(nazareth)

  6. Sunday Fairies, broken-down fairy! LOL Arnish, and kudos to whoever thought of that one. And BTW were there any of the Calendar Peatcutters on the float? And what were they wearing? :-)

  7. Aaaaaaaand, is it true they are either publishing a new calendar or re-publishing the old one? Do you have a current link Mr Lighthouse?

  8. We had our summer festival this weekend and they had the floats and beauty queen, Breakfast in the Park and
lots of local arts and craft sales. They also have a car show with all the Gas guzzlers from the fifties and before.
    It's good fun.

Now we need a lively Lewisian blogger to attend and report back on the Stornoway ceilidh on 21/8...any volunteers?
