<![CDATA[ In the previous post, about Eishken, a reader left the comment (all constructive comments welcome) that the island looked bleak and unwelcoming, with no trees. However, there are trees in Lewis. Those that follow my exploits through my AOL blog will have seen pictures with trees. The Castle Grounds in Stornoway have plenty of trees. Unfortunately, hundreds were blown down in a hurricane in January 2005. Winds peaking at 134 mph raged all over the Western Isles. Five lives were lost in the Uists,
